Walking With Wounded’s Jaco van Gass was selected to carry the Olympic Torch as it made its way through Greenwich on Saturday 21st July.
Jaco was seriously injured in Helmand Province which resulted in him losing his left arm and suffered severe internal injuries. As a part of the North Pole 2011 and the Everest 2012 expeditions, Jaco has become a key representative of the charity.
On carrying the torch, Jaco said “I am doing it today for all the other wounded servicemen and women and obviously in memory for the fallen in Afghanistan, so yeah, I’m very privileged and very happy to be here today”.
