The Walking With The Wounded Trois Etapes Cycle Team was unveiled by team captain and world record-breaking cyclist, Mark Beamont, at London’s Imperial War Museum and we spoke to the team members about their view of the race and why they wanted to be involved with Walking With The Wounded.
Edward Parker, Co-Founder of Walking With The Wounded, said that the charity is “hugely grateful to men like those who are heading to France to take on the Alps. We need people like that to highlight what a good cause this is – we are also hugely thankful to all those who donate, whether it be a few pounds or a few thousand pounds. All contributions are warmly received and really do go to make a difference, as you can hear when the wounded Trois Etapes Team members mention with regards to their rehab.”.
The team will head to France this weekend to take on the formidable French Alps, so keep up-to-date with their news via this website.
Just Days to go now, missing my baby (the bike) but very excited about getting together and racing with the team, particularly having ridden with Pete L at the weekend and the Race Across America with Don. I think we have a strong team and may be in with a chance!
For most mere mortals, doing the RAAM bike race would be accomplishment enough. But now, only weeks later, Don and Rab will be riding the Trois Etapes- wow! Cognratulations to them and to the other team members. I hope you have a wonderful time. I can’t wait to follow your progress.
Allegedly had I been a cat I would be quickly running out of lives, so immortality sounds like the better option, if only. Rather:
All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”
