Team Captain at the top of Col de Galibier climb

Team Captain Mark Beaumont checks in with Walking With The Wounded HQ from the top of the steep, prolonged climb of Col du Galibier.

This sections marked the end of the last timed section of the day and, at a height of 2,556 m above sea level, was the highest point which will be reached during the Trois Etapes.

This section is followed, as you might imagine, with a long down-hill cycle which starts with a ride through the Col du Galibier Tunnel. If you click here you can see a first person view of the exit of the tunnel and the start of the hard-earned down-hill section.
