British Forces News: Volunteers wanted to trek to South Pole

Walking With The Wounded is looking for volunteers to take part in our largest expedition to date: South Pole 2013. Following the huge successes of the North Pole and Mt Everest treks, we are looking for any male or female who has been injured in the course of operations while serving in the British Army. Charity Co-Founder, Edward Parker, visited the BFBS studios to dicuss the expedition and the charity as a whole.

Edward said, “It’s another opportunity for our wounded to overcome not only the challenge of the expedition itself, but also their own specific injuries. With the right support incredible things can be achieved.”

If you or anyone you know is interested in taking on this once-in-a-lifetime challenge then please complete and return the application form which can be downloaded here.

You can see the intimate account of the recent assault on Mt Everest on Monday 27th August in the ITV1 documentary Harry’s Mountain Heroes.
