In The Footsteps of Legends

In the Footsteps of Legends is an expedition to the Geographic South Pole to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Captain Scott’s epic expedition in 1912. The aim is to raise over £1 million for Walking with the Wounded and Alzheimer’s Research UK. The expedition is being followed by The Sunday Times who has nominated both charities for their Christmas Appeal.

The Footsteps of Legends is co-lead by one of our most respected polar explorers, David Hempleman-Adams and Justin Packshaw (who climbed Everest for WWTW in 2011 and ex-4th/7th Dragoon Guards himself) and is receiving generous support from Iceland Supermarkets and The Sunday Times. The team which includes three serving soldiers from Captain Lawrence Oates’ Regiment (today the Royal Dragoon Guards – Oates served in the Enniskillen Dragoons, one of the RDG’s antecedent regiments, as is the 4th/7th DG) will celebrate Oates’ part in the fateful expedition.

The team are currently in Punta Arenas, southern Chile awaiting transfer to the Pole. You can find out more about In The Footsteps of Legends here where you can also donate.
