Cumbrian Challenge 2013 Winners and Results

Huge thanks and well done to all of you who took part in our first edition of the Cumbrian Challenge, Walking With The Wounded’s inaugural public event. We had an amazing weekend despite the weather, and we would like to take this occasion to thank Helly Hansen for their continued support without which events such as the Cumbrian Challenge would be much harder to create.

Congratulations to the winners: Girls On Top (picture above), for concluding the Tough route (20k hike, 1144m of altitude gain, 5 peaks) at 12:02 and to the winners of the Tougher route (33k hike, 2327m of altitude gain, 10 peaks taking in Striding Edge, Hevellyn, Red Screes.): Cambridge UOTC Cadets (picture below.

Congratulations also to ESRI UK Team 22 and Dad’s Army who had a properly challenging time on the mountain but completed the walk. Well done all round.

In May 30, 2013 Cadets with the Cambridge University Officer Training Corps are hosting a James Bond themed casino night at Vodka Revolution in Norwich.  There will be Roulette and Blackjack tables supplied by King’s and Queens Casinos, live music by John Beechey, Gyles Ifil and the Infantry Band, and Matt Pearce, along with an auction and raffle.
Prizes include a fully signed Leicester Tigers top, a British Lions rugby shirt signed by Johnny Wilkinson, a Helly Hansen technical training top signed by the WWTW South Pole team and a WWTW cycling top designed for the 2012 Trois Etapes and signed by Carlos Sastre, winner of the 2008 Tour de France.

Tickets are £10 and include a drink on arrival and a ‘£50′ token to use at the Casino tables.
