The reception will be hosted within a private viewing of an art exhibition by Arabella Dorman called ‘Before the Dawn‘: An Artist’s Journey through Afghanistan. Arabella was officially embedded within the British armed forces in Afghanistan and her paintings are drawn from those first-hand experiences along with her personal travels in the region.

Both speakers will talk about their time in Afghanistan and guests will also have the opportunity to hear from Mr Mirwais Alizai, a 32-year-old Afghan entrepreneur who was born in Helmand province and is sponsoring the exhibition. As a teenager Mr Alizai became the sole breadwinner for his family following the death of his father and has gone on to found a successful business enterprise that contributes to his vision of a self-sustained Afghan economy.

Sir Richard Stagg, the British Ambassador to Afghanistan will also make a special guest appearance at the event on 6th November.

Guests on both nights will be treated to drinks and canapés. The exhibition runs from 5th to 15th November and is open daily from 10am.

5% of all painting sales will go to Walking With The Wounded.
