Alex Todino appointed as Walking With The Wounded’s Home Straight Employment Mentor

Mike Jackson House, one of Riverside ECHG’s specialist Veterans Supported Housing services, announces today that it has appointed a Walking With The Wounded Home Straight Employment Mentor.  Alex Todino will start her position at the end of March.

Walking With The Wounded Home Straight Employment Mentors provide a unique and extensive service to provide the skills, training and work placements to support local veterans back into a sustainable career and regain their independence.  Alex said, “I am looking forward to helping veterans make a successful transition to civilian life.”

Alex will also work to build relationships with local employers and training providers, expanding the portfolio of opportunities available to the veterans using the service.

Based at Mike Jackson House in Aldershot, this new resource provided by Walking With The Wounded will prove invaluable towards helping ex-servicemen and women who have served in our Armed Forces move forward into new careers, providing specialist support with this transition.  The assistance is bespoke to each client, they each have their own distinct challenges and barriers to employment, and each will need different levels of intervention to assist.  This also includes working with and supporting the employer to assist the vulnerable client to integrate into their organisation.

The Walking With The Wounded  Home Straight Programme is delivered in partnership with The Regular Forces Employment Association, (RFEA) and is currently delivering in to six homeless veteran locations, Glasgow, Newcastle, Catterick, Bristol, London and Aldershot.

Riverside ECHG is a leading social landlord in the UK. Their award-winning national network of Veterans services have been developed and driven by staff who themselves have served in the Armed Forces.

Riverside provide a telephone advice line, SPACES (Single Persons Accommodation Centre for the ex-Services) along with temporary housing and support at purpose-built centres near garrisons around the country.

Riverside has two flagship purpose built supported housing schemes for Veterans – The Beacon – based in Yorkshire on the edge of Catterick Garrison, and Mike Jackson House, in Aldershot.

Riverside’s aim is to help each and every single Veteran we work with make a successful transition into civilian life.
