Celebrating 75 years of Royal Engineer Bomb Disposal

BD75 supporting WWTW

We are delighted to be one of three military charities benefiting from events to celebrate 75 years of Royal Engineer Bomb Disposal

BD75 has been formed to mark its 75th anniversary organising a series of exciting events raising funds for Walking With The Wounded, Blesma and the Royal Engineers Benevolent Fund.

Royal Engineer bomb disposal teams have supported every major UK military operation since their formation.

In May 1940 the 25 original Royal Engineer Bomb Disposal sections were formed. During the Second World War, these teams disposed of over 45,000 bombs and just under 75,000 ‘Butterfly’ bomblets. A total of 55 officers and 567 other ranks were killed in action with a further 37 officers and 172 other ranks injured.

Please support their events:

27 May 15 – Boxing, The Battle of Bethnal Green
TBC 15 – Concert featuring the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers
19/20 Sept 15 – Explosive Ordnance Disposal & Search Experience at Carver Barracks, Essex
22 Oct 15 – Service of National Remembrance at St Paul’s Cathedral
