On the morning of Stage 2 the runners emerged from their tents to prepare their breakfasts and get ready for the day ahead, a stage of 26.9M/43.3KM with significantly more climbing than Stage 1. A very hot and sunny first day had taken some toll on feet and energy levels but as Race Director Colin gave final instructions, the field looked determined and upbeat. The day would be warm but not as hot as Stage 1.
Here’s show our guys got on:
Kate Eversole finished 52nd in 8 hrs 50 mins (16th female home) and is now 52nd overall and 14th female.
Stuart Doughty, Chris Smith and David Barnes all finished together in 9 hrs 53 mins in 71st, 72nd and 73rd place.
After the two stages Stuart is 63rd, David is 66th and Chris is 70th.
Stage 3 is the big one – 52 miles and almost 75% sand….!
