WWTW’s London Marathon Record Breakers

Chris Shirley was the last of 15 Walking With The Wounded runners to cross the line at the London Marathon this weekend – but set a new world record in the process

The former Royal Marine Commando wrote his name into the Guinness World Record books for the fastest marathon carrying a 100lbs pack – almost the same weight as Kylie Minogue.

Chris completed the marathon in 7 hrs 43 mins and 23 surrounded by his support crew before enjoying a well earned beer and then multiple ice baths to help his feet recover.

Collectively the Walking With The Wounded team of Chris Shirley, Rod Eldridge, George Oliver, Teya Field, Charlotte Jopling, Frankie Lambert, Vivi Qi, Lucy Smith, Paul Kelly, Julie-Ann Peart, Ryann Peterson, Tim Hopkinson, Melanie Alder, Caroline Howard and Emma Gray have raised more than £30,000 for the charity and its programmes supporting vulnerable veterans back into independence through employment.

Meet and donate to the 2016 team here and see photos from the 2016 London Marathon below.
