One of our amazing fundraisers has come up with “The 4040 Challenge“, consisting of 40 unique ‘missions’ that will be completed in the 40 days leading up to his 40th birthday on 2nd December.
Stuart Leach will be taking on missions from 23rd October made up of physical, mental and military-inspired tasks, all generally ’40’ themed – such as swim 40 lengths of the Olympic pool, erecting a building poppy 40 metres high, serving 40 drinks to service personnel and becoming a Covent Garden statue for 40 minutes.
Many of the missions break down further so he is looking at completing in excess of 500 tasks (in 40 days!) with the goal of raising more than £4,000 for Walking With The Wounded and the Royal British Legion.
The challenge was inspired in recognition of his two grandfathers who served in World War II, one of whom was captured at Dunkirk and became a prisoner of war for several years. As it is the year of the World War One centenary and the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, now seemed a fitting time to acknowledge their service and bravery.
There will be regular updates on www.4040challenge.com and public votes for certain missions – so please have a look and get involved. Many of the challenges have opportunities for others to join him and you can also follow his adventures on twitter @MrSocialLondon
