The Military use the term ‘March and Shoot’ to describe the training and testing of soldiers’ ability to close with the enemy on foot and engage them accurately with their personal weapons. The Countryside March and Shoot invites teams of field sport enthusiasts to compete in a 7 mile march followed immediately by a clay and rifle shoot – in aid of Walking With The Wounded. The inaugural March and Shoot will be held at Tangley House – Hampshire on 14th September 2014. Twenty five teams of 4 will compete in this unique high octane competition that combines individual physical stamina and teamwork with shooting competence. Contestants will start and finish as a team. Points will be scored for the timed march and the targets hit during the shoot. The event will conclude with a celebratory late lunch. Never before has physical stamina and teamwork been combined with shooting skills in this way. The event will be presented and choreographed to the highest standard – fitting of those participating, the venue and the nature of the sport. This truly original event will attract an eclectic mix of supporters of the countryside and country pursuits who want to be part of this memorable occasion. With regional heats being introduced in 2015 the annual Countryside March & Shoot is set to become a serious fixture in the UKs sporting and social calendar.
