Daniel Majid

Military Background:
Whilst studying at University, Daniel joined the Officers’ Training Corps (OTC) and carried on to the Territorial Army after graduating. Seeking a challenge, he joined the Parachute Regiment in 2007. Having completed many overseas exercises and jump courses, Daniel was eventually deployed to Afghanistan in 2010.
Nature of Injury:
Daniel was hit by shrapnel from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) whilst on foot patrol in November 2010. Â The explosion shattered his right humerus bone and damaged the radial nerve.
General Background:
Daniel is now working as a PE teacher at a local secondary school. Due to the nature of this job, he is incredibly sporty and he enjoys the outdoors, travelling, cooking, socialising, and challenging himself.
Everest training:
Daniel has recently undergone surgery on his arm. When it heals he hopes to get back to the variety of physical activities, including riding his new bike.
Luxury Item:
My iPhone, which holds all my favourite movies, games, music, and photos.
Most-Missed:
My sofa and the cuddles that take place on it.
Why did you want to take part in the expedition?
Mount Everest a special place and something I’ve always wanted to do. I don’t know many people that have reached the summit so it will be a real challenge. I truly hope to inspire people by doing it. Life goes on and dreams come true.
