Major James Watson

‘As an Army Physiotherapist for the last 14 years, I have had a keen interest in both human performance as well as the great outdoors. I have often combined these interests by undertaking adventures which have taken me to top of mountains in the Himalayas, ultra races in the Scottish Highlands and numerous multi day adventure races.

I have been involved with WWTW since 2012, when I worked as part of the selection panel for the South Pole Allied Challenge. I work with wounded service personnel and feel passionately that not only do they deserve outstanding medical care, but also every available opportunity to live life to the full once they leave the service, both in terms of finding employment but also by having outstanding adventures. Running the MdS for the charity is a chance in a lifetime, and throughout, I will be thinking of those wounded who have made amazing achievements due to their character, mental fortitude and despite their physical injuries. I also hope to inspire both my kids to enjoy exercise and be healthy!’ As well as training for the MdS, James is also preparing to be part of the Joint Service Mountaineering expedition to climb Mount Dhaulagiri in 2016.
