Obi's Story- Project Nova

“I thought it was going to be the worst Christmas ever but it turned out to be the best.”

After being medically discharged from the Army, Obi experienced severe depression brought on by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which came to a head shortly before Christmas last year.

Teresa, his WWTW support worker, visited him to see how he was, only to find him broken and about to give up. His young children were excited about Santa visiting, but Obi couldn’t afford any presents – or even food for Christmas Day.

Teresa posted Obi’s story on social media and the people of Yorkshire and beyond responded with kind donations, transforming the family’s Christmas – and their future.

With our support, Obi has received therapy for his mental health and is responding extremely well. Teresa also helped him access free vocational training and he now has a job working in security.

“I was really poorly and in a low and desperate place. Teresa from Walking With The Wounded is the most amazing, warm and driven person. She saved me. She turned it around and I’m very, very glad that she did.”
