Gift in Memory

Funeral Collections

If you’d like to donate a funeral collection to Walking With The Wounded, the simplest way is to set up a donations page on Virgin Money Giving, where friends and family can make a donation and leave a message if they choose. Using Virgin Money Giving is very easy and requires no administration – it also means Walking With The Wounded has the opportunity to collect Gift Aid on eligible donations, increasing the contribution from your funeral collection. We can also provide collection envelopes - please call our Fundraising Team on 01263 863 900.

Collection Envelope Guidelines

If you wish to use collection envelopes at the funeral we can provide these for you.  The collection envelopes are designed to allow individuals to Gift Aid their donation if they are eligible to do so, which allows Walking With The Wounded to claim 25p from HM Revenue & Customs for every £1 donated at no extra cost to the donor.  Please contact us at Viveca.johnstone@wwtw.org.uk to tell us how many you need and we can arrange for these to be sent out to you.

Funeral directors

Please forward the collection envelopes and any individual cheques direct to Walking With The Wounded at Stody Hall Bran, Stody, Melton Constable, Norfolk NR24 2ED. Any cash can either be paid directly into our bank account, details below, or a cheque made payable to ‘Walking With The Wounded can be written to cover the full amount donated in cash.

Churches

Please follow the same procedure as Funeral Directors. We prefer donations to Walking With The Wounded to be paid directly to us, however we are aware that some churches have a process where the cash needs to be passed through their accounts before being paid to the charity. If this is the case, and collection envelopes are used, please can we ask you to check the amount you take out of each envelope with the amount written on the envelope before sending the envelopes to us at the address below. The information on the envelopes is needed to allow us to claim Gift Aid from HMRC on behalf of the donors.

Gift Aid

Facts

  • You must be a UK tax payer. To Gift Aid, you must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities and Amateur Sports Clubs you give to will reclaim on your Gift Aid donations in the same tax year; this also applies if you pay tax on your savings, pension plan or investment income. Other taxes such as Council Tax and VAT do not count for this purpose.
  • You can only claim Gift Aid on a personal donation, not on behalf of a group, a public collection or on behalf of someone else.
  • You must complete a valid Gift Aid declaration
  • It is important that the wording contains all the information that HMRC requires, so you will find a pre-printed declaration on our donation envelopes and forms along with our sponsorship forms.

How to Gift Aid your donation

We just need you to complete a Gift Aid declaration, which will cover your future donations and all the donations you have made for the past four years.

  • Make a single donation online and add Gift Aid.
  • Download the Donation and Gift Aid form and return to: Walking With The Wounded, Stody Hall Barns, Stody, Melton Constable, Norfolk NR24 2ED
