Falklands Ultra
Inspired by the routes taken by British forces during the 1982 operation, the Falklands Ultra's inaugural, single stage ultra marathon promises a challenge of a lifetime in this remote region of the South Atlantic. With the emotive landscape and unique wildlife, adventure will definitely be included!
The FaIklands Ultra is a single-stage endurance challenge in
the South Atlantic. The inaugural event will be held in March 2022 and your charity
can be there on the start line and be
part of something amazing!
There are options for 100 miles, 100 km, marathon and a team
event of four marathons in a relay. The cut-off times are generous to allow the
courses to be completed by a wide range of abilities (3km/hr supported).
The Falkland Ultra will be an extraordinary adventure of a
lifetime. Nowhere else in the world has such a unique mix of epic terrain,
friendly wildlife and iconic history.
The event is an all-
inclusive package with return flights from the UK,
accommodation, food, the race and organised experiences of what the
Falklands has to offer! As well as an optional, pre-race run through the
Stanley Battlefields, participants might also go whale watching and
kayaking with penguins. However,
the main focus of the week is the ultramarathon:
Starting in Goose Green, the course summits the highest point on the Islands (Mount Usborne) before dropping down to Ajax Bay and San Carlos, then winding its way through the hills of Mount Kent, Mount Longdon, Two Sisters, Tumbledown and Wireless Ridge before finishing in the centre of Stanley.
