Meet our new Clinical Lead
We welcome Carolyn to the team at WWTW Head Office
We have a new Clinical Lead! Carolyn Brown has recently
joined the team at our Head Office in Norfolk. In her role at Walking With The
Wounded, Carolyn will provide clinical leadership, advice and clinical
governance across all aspects of our mental health programme.
Walking With The Wounded’s mental health programme offers
talking therapies from private accredited therapists across the country to
support veterans. The programme’s primary aim is to source mental health
support near to clients so they don’t need to travel far for appointments or
opt for residential treatment, which takes them away from their families and
other commitments. The ability to receive support locally within the community
is crucial, as it means more individuals can access support and remain engaged
throughout their treatment.
The programme’s other aim is to deliver speedy therapy. In
the military, it’s unusual to be put on a waiting list for support from a
doctor, therefore waiting lists outside of the military often come as a
surprise to veterans returning to ‘civvy street’. With barriers such as stigma
already delaying veterans seeking support, any additional delays can lead to
veterans feeling disgruntled. Quickly providing support prevents individuals’
mental health deteriorating even further, hence why it’s so important that WWTW’s
mental health programme maintains its prompt intervention.
Carolyn will lead on offering clinical support, expertise
and advice for the mental health programme, deciding on the suitability of
referrals into the service; providing a robust clinical governance framework; and
liaising with partners to ensure that clients are receiving the most appropriate
and effective support.

From all of us at Walking With The Wounded, we wish Carolyn every success in her role!
