VE Day Poetry Competiton: WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Read the entries from the finalists and find out the winner of our poetry competition
We are very pleased to announce the winners
of our school’s VE Day Poetry Competition.
We would like to thank everyone who entered for their time, effort and donations. With over 80 entries ranging from the ages of 4 – 14 years old the competition was fierce and the talent amazing.
The finalists were chosen by Dick Turpin, our
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who had the following comment:
“I would
very much like to congratulate all the entrants for their wonderful creative
writing, thoughtfulness and understanding on
the enormous
importance to freedom in our lives.
Many
contributors also wrote on the sacrifice that so many have made to defend our
freedoms and defeat the powers of oppression and tyranny. I believe it is most
important to understand the history of freedom, and how past and present
generations have fought for it in many different ways.
This
competition is wonderful proof of how our marvellous young people not only
understand this, but can write great poems on this subject.
It has been
very hard to decide on the finalists and winner and I would like to thank
everyone who has taken part for the time and thought they they have put into
these poems. Thank you and I salute you. “
