Thank you to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity

ABF The Soldiers Charity award £15,000 to support WWTW’s Employment Programme.

We would like to thank ABF The Soldiers’ Charity for their continued support. The Soldiers’ Charity is the national charity of the British Army, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families when they are in need. Since 2016 The Soldier’s Charity have granted WWTW over £150,000 to help provide our employment and mental health services to ‘at risk’ veterans.

The £15,000 grant from ABF will help fund our IPS (Individual Placement and Support) Employment Programme securing sustainable paid employment for veterans with mental health problems.

Each year Walking With The Wounded supports over 1500 Army veterans, with physical, mental or social injuries and many struggling with poor mental health, debt, unstable accommodation, substance misuse and unemployment.

Our programmes place a focus on independence through well-being and employment support.

Our Employment Advisors are embedded in veteran supported accommodation residences or within NHS regional veteran mental health teams, helping unemployed veterans to find employment and rebuild their lives.

In 2019, we supported 298 veterans into employment, and in 2020, we have continued to secure employment for our veterans throughout the Covid-19 restrictions. Our advisors work withveterans to help build their confidence, organise work placements, source funding for any required training and ultimately assist in securing sustainable employment.

Edward Parker, Co-Founder & CEO, Walking With The Wounded said:

‘As an Army veteran myself, I am especially grateful for the continued support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, supporting soldiers, veterans and their families on behalf of the Regiments and Corps of the Army. This support is all the more valuable in 2020 with the challenges the veteran community faces as a result of Covid-19’.
