A Thought From The Fallen

A Thought From The Fallen
by Peter, WWTW Beneficiary
You don’t have to cry or weep
Or kneel beside our grave
All we ask is ‘remember us’
And everything we gave
We battled for your liberty
And fought for what was right
We died to give you freedom
And the peace to sleep at night
Now our faces are faded
In the pictures that you’ve kept
Creased and stained with tears
Where mothers and children wept
In stone our names are carved
In books and films our deeds recorded
All we are is in old boxes
Of letters sent and medals awarded
So once a year a little time
Just two minutes in November
It’s not a lot of time to ask of you
To stand silent and remember
