Starting from 16/03/2021, WWTW MEDALS

deliver a 6-8 week programme, twice a week over Zoom, to support veterans
struggling with their mental health. The programme aims to help veterans engage
with football as a medium to improve mental health, increase uptake of sport
and reduce social isolation.
The course will run two days per week for one
hour on a Tuesday from 11:30 to 12:30 and Thursday from 11:30 to 13:00 the
course will last six weeks with a possible two week extension if required the
sessions and will cover general football chat on the Tuesday with the Thursday
looking at a variety of topics to help improve the mental health of the
veterans we support including:
- Building resilience
- Improving wellbeing and mindfulness
- Improving Social Circles and decreasing social
isolation
- Enhancing confidence
- Increasing Physical Activity
- Promoting wellbeing via discussion
- Bring partners in to talk about what they can do to
support our cohort.
This is an exciting opportunity for veterans to get involved with an online community and meet with like-minded individuals. The programme is now fully subscribed thanks to overwhelming interest, but stay tuned for future opportunities.
