The Cumbrian Challenge

Why you should sign-up. Written by WWTW Operations Team Manager

Performing an act of kindness gives us all a warm feeling and a great deal of satisfaction. The Cumbrian Challenge provides you with all of this and more. It gives you the opportunity to walk alongside our beneficiaries, who your fundraising directly affects. It doesn’t stop there. Your fundraising enables our employees to operate through our main four strands: Employment, Mental Health, Care Coordination, and Volunteering.

The main goal at WWTW is to support a veteran or family member so that they can regain their independence and contribute to society, and with your help, we can do just that. Now it isn’t easy, it never is. The Cumbrian Challenge is a tough challenge, and that’s what makes it so rewarding. I guarantee you that upon completion of the challenge, you will be proud and will be able to reflect on the challenges that our veterans have faced over the years and the positive steps they needed to take to overcome certain barriers. Your support will contribute to those positive steps.

I have taken part in the Cumbrian Challenge every year for the last four years and every year it gets harder. I’m not sure if that is because I’m getting older, my fitness is getting worse, or the route(s) are getting harder. A bit of everything I suspect. But who wants it to be easy? I certainly do not. This challenge reflects the hard work that our members of staff go through everyday which enables us to change lives for the better. We can’t do this without you. If you hit your £2k fundraising target, we can support more veterans who need and deserve our support.
