OP-REGEN partners with Challenge The Wild take WWTW volunteers on epic weekend expedition
OP-REGEN is Walking With The Wounded’s (‘WWTW’) volunteer programme and throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, volunteers from across the country stepped up to support those who served and their local community.
WWTW has teamed up with Challenge The Wild to offer OP-REGEN volunteers and supporters the opportunity to take part in a 4-day expedition across the lake district by way of a thank you to everyone who has donated their time to the programme. There are 3 expeditions taking place within September.
In total, over 60 supporters and volunteers from the armed forces community are taking part in the expeditions, some of whom have been supported through WWTW’s programmes, including Project Nova, Employment support, Care Coordination, and our Mental Health Programme.
The Expeditions starts from Coniston and follows the Cumbria Way footpath from South to North through the heart of the Lake District countryside. Those taking part will camp overnight and hike 15 to 20 kilometres per day, covering 75km across the long weekend.
The events are fully funded by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund, positive pathways programme.
