Walking With The Wounded Launch Mission Green in Manchester with support from musicMagpie.

Leading military charity, Walking With The Wounded (‘WWTW’), launches a new ‘Mission Green’ initiative through OP-REGEN, its core volunteering programme.

Mission Green will be delivered in partnership with City of Trees and Manchester Council as part of its environmental strategy to engage members of the armed forces community to connect with their local area, access paid employment opportunities and help improve access to additional support services alongside developing mental and physical wellbeing.

Scott Briggs, OP-REGEN Project Manager, said, “Mission Green is an exciting new programme for WWTW and OP-REGEN. It is bringing together key organisations and councils across Greater Manchester to help develop green space for residents and help them to enjoy getting into the great outdoors. It will also engage with the local Armed Forces Community and provide both voluntary and paid job opportunities.”

OP-REGEN aims to support City of Trees in their initiative to plant three million trees across Greater Manchester over the next five years, working with communities, organisations, and businesses to plant a tree for every person living in the region.

Mission Green is now being supported by musicMagpie and Sunbelt Rentals and both companies are helping to fund the operational delivery of the programme. musicMagpie employees will also be volunteering for the various Mission Green initiatives over the next 12-months.

Sam Vesey, Chief Sustainability Officer at musicMagpie, commented, “We’re delighted to be supporting Walking With The Wounded’s Mission Green programme and helping members of the armed forces community access employment opportunities and engage with their local area. The programme will also allow us to support Mission Green’s work in helping to reduce carbon emissions and saving the planet, something which is very close to our hearts at musicMagpie.”
