Read Michael's story and hear how Walking Home For Christmas really does make a difference.

"I am starting to lead a near-enough normal life…I’m a lot closer to it now than I was 2-3 years ago," says Michael from London who joined the Royal Green Jackets in 1999. He was medically discharged in 2005 following hearing loss sustained whilst on operational duty in Iraq .

He found himself homeless immediately after leaving the Army and spent time sofa-surfing and living in cars. He was also diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Fortunately, Michael was offered supported accommodation at Sir Oswald Stoll Mansions in London (Stoll Housing provide affordable homes for veterans to rent) where he also had access to employment support via Walking With The Wounded’s employment advisors.

Since being supported by WWTW, Michael is now employed by a local electrical company. His employment advisor, Jenny, was also able to secure funding to enable Michael to study for his Level 3 in Electro Technical Technology which he hopes to complete by the end of 2017. This will give Michael the opportunity to expand his employment opportunities much more in the future.
