Walking With The Wounded and The Armed Forces Outreach Service (AFOS) bolster veteran support in the North East with the appointment of a new Care Coordinator.

Walking With The Wounded (‘WWTW’) has partnered with the Armed Forces Outreach Service (AFOS), to fund a new veteran Care Coordinator role in the North East of England.

AFOS is a partnership with local authorities and social housing providers in Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne and Durham.

Susanna Duffy will commence in the role on March 29th, 2022. The new role will help bring together third sector charitable military expertise with local authority pathways. Susanna Duffy will work across veteran support programmes to create better referral pathways and collaboration in the North East region. Furthermore, as part of the partnership, WWTW and AFOS will be able to expand the offer of training, employment and volunteering to more members of the Armed Forces Community.

The partnership between WWTW and AFOS is supported by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust ‘Sustaining Delivery’ programme. The programme provides funding to enable local authority clusters to deliver longer-term changes that help those from Armed Forces communities better access services and support in their local areas.
