Cumbrian Challenge 2022
A round up of the Cumbrian Challenge 2022
Here we are again for the 10th Cumbrian Challenge! Over the past 9 years we have raised over £1.2m through our headline event with over 1,000 teams taking part in three different hiking routes throughout the peaks and hills of Grasmere. This year was no exception to that trend and we welcomed 115 teams to the unexpectedly sunny climbs of the Lake District. Nearly out of Covid waters and eager to impress, our participants went charging up the first hill, taking on the Peak (10k), Tough (26k) and Tougher (32k) routes.
Each team
of 3 or 4 has a target of £2,000 to raise and so far the event has generated
over £160,000 for our work supporting wounded Veterans, through our four key
pillars, Employment, Mental Health, Care Coordination and Volunteering.
Fundraising has been accelerating hard over the past week and will continue to
do so and our participants have heard from some of our clients and volunteers
this weekend; helping to show the impact of their efforts amongst those we
support. Our grateful thanks also to our key sponsors, FDM, Gasway and BAE
Systems who have supported the event for a number of years, as well as bringing
significant team numbers to the challenge.
Each year at Cumbria is unique and the hot weather proved to be a challenge this year but our participants braved the conditions, conquered the peaks and we could not be prouder of their efforts. Prizes will be awarded tonight in the marquee and we look forward to seeing everyone Saturday May 13th 2023!
