Chapel Street by Sheila Brady

The story of 'The Bravest Little Street in England' is raising funds for Walking With The Wounded!

"A deeply moving account of how the First World War affected the lives of the residents of an ordinary street", Nick Barratt from the BBC series, Who Do You Think You Are.

We are very grateful to author Sheila Brady who is donating a portion of the proceeds of her book, Chapel Street, to Walking With The Wounded.

Chapel Street was a row of old Georgian terraced lodging houses in Altrincham, home to some 400 Irish, English, Welsh and Italian lodgers. From this community of just 60 houses, 161 men volunteered for the First World War. More men were lost in action from Chapel Street than any other street in England and as a result, King George V called Chapel Street "the Bravest Little Street in England".
