Step Into Film

We're proud to have partnered with Services To Film in order to provide employment opportunities in the UK film industry.

Walking With The Wounded have partnered with Services to Film (formerly Soldier in Blue) in order to provide more employment opportunities to ex-servicemen and women in the UK film industry.

Services To Film provides veterans with employment as extras in the UK film industry and has so far provided work for over 500 veterans.  This partnership will not only raise funds for WWTW, with 100% of all company profits being donated, but it will also see the launch of a a new initiative called Step Into Film.  This initiative will find more permanent employment for veterans in the film industry as a second career after leaving the military.  Step Into Film follows the successful implementation of Step Into Health – a programme which was launched in 2014 by WWTW in conjunction with the NHS and The Royal Foundation, creating the first access pathway from the military into the numerous career opportunities available in the NHS.

At Walking With The Wounded, we recognise the inherent skills of our armed service personnel and through our programmes and partnerships want to compliment these qualities, as well as provide support to transfer their skills into the civilian workplace.  We offer assistance through our programmes to those vulnerable veterans who have been physically, mentally or socially disadvantaged by their service and assist them in gaining independence through new long term careers outside of the military.  This includes providing support to homeless veterans and veterans in the Criminal Justice System, areas which are too often ignored.  The outcome? Sustainable employment, and independence for them and their families.

Charlie Rotheram, Founder of Services To Film commented: “We see that the advantages go both ways – we provide the film industry with a pool of reliable individuals to fill roles as extras, whilst offering veterans useful income as they transition to civilian life.  However, we wanted to do more than providing short periods work, so we are now partnering with Walking With The Wounded to undertake a charitable initiative to create an employment pathway into the film industry that we hope will lead to sustainable second careers for veterans.”

Andrew Cook, Director of Fundraising, Walking With The Wounded commented: “When Services To Film approached us to discuss this partnership, we leapt at the opportunity to team up with a company who are committed to veteran employment and like us, recognise their transferable skills.  We look forward to working together and seeing the positive impact the new initiative Step Into Film will have on the veteran community."

On 6th February 2018, Services To Film will be holding an Inaugural Gala Dinner at BAFTA. The evening will bring together key individuals from across the industry and officially launch the new Step Into Film initiative.
