In October 2021, an outstanding group of 19 ultra-runners will be taking on the infamous Marathon des Sables (MDS), a seven-day ultra-marathon in the heat of the Sahara Desert, in order to raise funds for WWTW’s work. In the lead up to the race, we will be introducing you to some of the team. Over the years, WWTW has invited different teams to take part in the event on behalf of the charity. In less than one month, hundreds of teams will be taking part in Walking With The Wounded’s flagship fundraiser, the Cumbrian Challenge, in order to raise funds for those who served. Despite being postponed due to the pandemic, this year will be the biggest event yet.

Walking With The Wounded are delighted to announce that The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity have awarded us £24,000 to support those who have served in the Royal Navy or Royal Marines.

WWTW are grateful for the continued support of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, who are the principal charity of the Royal Navy. They exist to support sailors, marines and their families, for life. They have enabled us to provide our employment, mental health and care coordination programmes since 2017.

In May 2021, Chris Gaskin climbed to the top of all 214 Wainwright fells in the Lake District without any external support in record time, all in aid of raising funds for WWTW. Now, he is taking on his next challenge, the Marathon des Sables.
