On December 12th, the 13 Company South West London Army Cadet Force, embarked on a 22-mile challenge as they carried a Christmas tree from their detachment in Putney to the Royal Hospital in Chelsea.

On December 13th, a team from Cygnet Health Care in Manchester will walk 11 miles from Walking With The Wounded’s (‘WWTW’) Manchester hub on Canada Street to Cygnet Health Care offices in Bury.

Veronica, who has breast cancer, is getting into the Christmas spirit this year by dressing up as an elf to raise money for Walking Home For Christmas. Veronica is undergoing six chemotherapy treatments and will be dressing up for each treatment to raise money for six different charities, including WWTW.

On November 25th, Brian Wood MC, will complete his Ultimate Sacrifice Challenge, having run 25 marathons in 25 days to raise money to support Walking With The Wounded and those who served. He will be joined by Fergus Williams, CEO of Walking With The Wounded, who will support him through the final 5 miles of the challenge.

According to new research released by WWTW today, Brits are still suffering an impact on their mental health caused by lockdowns enforced during the pandemic. 4 in 5 of those surveyed said that they still suffer from the effects on their mental health.

On November 1st, Brian Wood MC, former Colour Sergeant, Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, will take on a 635-mile marathon challenge in a personal tribute to the 635 British Armed Forces personnel who lost their lives during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

The expedition has been postponed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic so, for certainty, the charity has reimagined it in the UK, so they can still showcase the value of veterans and raise funds and awareness of veteran issues, especially in light of the recent withdrawal of Western forces from Afghanistan.

In October 2021, an outstanding group of 19 ultra-runners will be taking on the infamous Marathon des Sables (MDS), a seven-day ultra-marathon in the heat of the Sahara Desert, in order to raise funds for WWTW’s work. In the lead up to the race, we will be introducing you to some of the team. Over the years, WWTW has invited different teams to take part in the event on behalf of the charity. Walking With The Wounded, is set to return to Grasmere in September to host our annual Cumbrian Challenge. The event which was postponed twice last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic is set to take place next month on September 11th, 2021.
