The Cumbrian Challenge 2022 is almost here. The WWTW team is looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Grasmere to take on our 9th Cumbrian Challenge event.

We are excited to welcome back hundreds of supporters to Grasmere next month for our annual Cumbrian Challenge event.

WWTW Supporter, Mark Harding was paralyzed from the neck down whilst serving in the Armed Forces in Afghanistan. Through years of rehabilitation and medical support, he learnt to walk again, and in 2021, Mark took on WWTW’s Cumbrian Challenge, tackling the Peak route. In our latest blog, we find out more about his time in the Armed Forces, why he’s supporting WWTW and why he is returning to the Lake District in May this year.

Dubbed ‘the toughest footrace on earth’ the Marathon des Sables (MdS) is an iconic ultramarathon. With the route stretching across the Sahara desert, participants must complete a 250 km, 6-day route, in scorching temperatures.

Walking With The Wounded’s Battlefield Cycle which was set to see teams of riders’ cycle approximately 80 miles per day across 5 days, from Amsterdam to Paris, accompanied by a military historian, has been postponed until Summer 2023.

In 2009, whilst serving as a Captain in a cavalry regiment in Afghanistan, WWTW Trustee Captain Guy Disney’s vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.
