We are delighted to welcome Alverne Bolitho to our Board of Trustees. A proud Cornishman, Alverne has had a career in London as a stockbroker and asset manager before now returning to live in the far west of that county.

Alverne’s military service in the Grenadier Guards lasted six years and took him to Northern Ireland, the UK, Kenya, Cyprus, the USA and Germany. His grandfather, father and brother were also in the military and his eldest son went on to continue the family tradition, also serving in the Grenadier Guards.

On joining the Board, Alverne said: “I very much believe in what WWTW is doing and I look forward to having an active role during this exciting time for the future development of the charity. The goal is very much to enable us to meet, help and work with as many veterans who need our services as possible – there are always more who need us than we can connect with.”

“This is a defining time in the evolution of WWTW. It is still a relatively young charity, but our aim is to be as proactive as possible in identifying and meeting the needs of veterans. That ability to adapt and move forward according to what is required is what will enable us to stand above the crowd and to be effective.”

Due to his own service, Alverne has always wanted to be involved in a military charity and first became aware of WWTW while it was in its infancy, taking part in the very first Cumbrian Challenge. He has continued to support us through fundraising at Cumbrian Challenges and through organising long-distance walks which are continuing – with the Summit-to-Sea Challenge in Crete in 2026 the next one on his calendar.
