Susan Faridi, CEO of Eldon Housing, and friend Anne Marie Godfrey, whose son serves in the RAF, joined Dee Williams for her ‘Dee-Lightful’ radio show on Croydon FM on 8th December to discuss their upcoming fundraising challenge, which will see them travel to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain, in support of our work with veterans.
The pair of enthusiastic fundraisers spoke with Dee about their motivations for taking on the challenge and the work that goes into preparing for such a feat. From early-morning walks before work, to weekends spent racking up the miles on Box Hill, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and beyond, Susan and Anne Marie have put an incredible amount of effort into their preparation and are raring to go for the big event in January.
On their reasons for supporting WWTW, Susan said: “For both of us, Walking With The Wounded is a special charity, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with them in my previous roles. I know firsthand how important it is to raise funds for a service charity because those services are very much needed. The more I learn about the charity, the more inspired I am and the more I want to do what I can to support them.”
Navy veteran and WWTW Regional Manager, David Beer, featured alongside Susan and Anne Marie on the show to provide listeners with further insight on the work we do, and the difference that donors can make in helping us to support veterans across the country.
