A team of fundraisers from North Shields are set to take on the 100km Priority ultra-marathon on Saturday 6th June in aid of Walking With The Wounded.

Stephen, Alan, Peter, Paul, Rusty, Evie and Jake, who range from their 20’s to 60’s, are walking 100 km in 24 hours.

The group were introduced to WWTW via a mutual friend, Paul Bine (Basher), who is a supporter of the charity. Funds raised from the challenge will support WWTW’s regional hub in North Shields, which hosts a regular veterans’ drop-in centre and monthly ‘Mess Night’.

Alan Falls, one of the fundraisers, is a veteran who retired from the Armed Forces 3 weeks ago. He said it is very important that charities like Walking With The Wounded are supported, as the service they provide is priceless.

Speaking about the upcoming fundraiser, Stephen Hull said, “We were introduced to Walking With The Wounded through our mutual friend, Basher, who is a supporter of the charity. We’re doing this ultra-marathon in support of veterans who need a helping hand. The challenge will be tough, I imagine we’ll be walking wounded by the time we reach the finish line!”

Martin Lynn, WWTW Events Manager, added,“We’re hugely grateful to the team for taking on the Priory Ultra-marathon in support of WWTW. It’s a monumental challenge, and one that will test them throughout the 24 hours, but every penny raised will help veterans and their families in the North East access the support they need. We wish them all the best of luck.”
