Walking With The Wounded is delighted to announce that 1st July marks the start of a grant generously provided by Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) and Greenwich Hospital as part of their Through Life's Pathway funding programme.

The £22,000 award is to support Royal Navy and Royal Marine veterans with Care Coordination. Support Care Coordination from WWTW, in partnership with NHS Op COURAGE, helps ex-service personnel manage complex challenges, improve wellbeing and transform their lives.

Tony Hulton, CEO of WWTW, expands on this: “We are seeing a year-on-year increase in the number of veterans referred to us who are suffering from multiple challenges. Our Care Coordination service enables us to offer bespoke support for each person and their specific needs. Our highly trained and experienced Support Care Coordination staff stand side-by-side with them on their path back to civilian life, dealing with any physical, mental, social or financial challenges along the way. This can take time, as we remain with them through the whole journey. This generous award from RNRMC and Greenwich Hospital will allow us to continue offering this complex, but vital, service to as many veterans in need as possible.”

Last year, 963 veterans with complex social welfare needs were supported by WWTW across all our programmes. Over 90% of those arrived with low wellbeing in at least three different areas.

WWTW’s Support Care Coordination professionals have the time, experience and expertise to understand each individual they work with and are able to respond to what veterans have been through - to listen, to support and to get them back on their feet. Upon receiving support, 88% reported significant well-being improvements.

In 2024, WWTW’s staff spent over 48,640 hours directly with veterans. We prioritise face-to-face services because we’ve found that human interaction, building trusted relationships, and being present in the community leads to the best results.

The grant has been awarded through www.rnrmc.org.uk and to www.grenhosp.org.uk.
