There has been a lot of activity in recent weeks, with two big events both very well-supported by participants showing their commitment and dedication as they push their own personal limits to complete, all while being cheered on by the WWTW staff teams who attended.

On 7th September over 30 people bravely took on the Great North Run for WWTW – our largest number of places to date. The GNR, the largest half-marathon in the world, covers a course between Newcastle and South Shields. The event is well-known for its friendly and inclusive atmosphere and every one of our supporters running had a great time, one even completing the 13.1 mile course in ‘Croc’ shoes!

We are already taking registrations for next year’s Great North Run on 13th September 2026 and if you are interested in taking part and supporting the work that WWTW does with veterans with physical, mental or societal wounds then find out more and register your interest below.

Getting very wet on Saturday 20th September, an equally dedicated group of swimmers tackled ‘Swim Serpentine’ in London’s Hyde Park by swimming two miles surrounded by London's most recognizable landmarks.

The weather held and the water temperature was balmy but many chose to wear full suits as they swam their way twice around the famous Serpentine. This is a very popular event in the open water swimming community and the dates for 2026 are already available. If you’d like to join us on 19th September next year, find out more and register your interest below.
