Walking With The Wounded is thrilled that Gregg Stevenson, gold medal-winning Paralympic rower and Trustee, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List 2025 for his services to rowing.

A former Royal Engineer Commando, Gregg’s journey from sustaining a traumatic injury in 2009 is a testament to resilience and determination. After the loss of both legs below the knee, Gregg embarked on a remarkable path of recovery during which he discovered a passion for rowing, leading him to a gold medal at last year’s Paris Paralympics.

Reflecting on Gregg’s award, Tony Hulton, CEO of WWTW, said: “Congratulations to Gregg, whose dedication, both on and off the water, exemplifies the core values of Walking With The Wounded. His achievements exemplify the potential for a fulfilling life after service, inspiring those navigating their own challenges. His journey is an inspiration to us all, and we are delighted to see his contributions to rowing recognised with this well-deserved MBE."

Since joining WWTW as a Trustee in November 2024, Gregg has drawn on his lived experience in the Armed Forces to strengthen the charity’s mission of supporting veterans and their families. In addition to his athletic success, Gregg is a qualified mental health practitioner for Op COURAGE, the NHS mental health pathway for veterans and a key WWTW partner. As Armed Forces Lived Experience Lead for Op COURAGE North, he continues to champion mental health access for veterans.
