Walking With The Wounded is extremely thankful to the Veterans Foundation for awarding a grant of £180,000 to strengthen the delivery of Head Start, our specialist mental health programme.
Head Start is designed specifically for veterans navigating life beyond service. The funding will cover therapy costs and will enable us to reach out to more individuals in the community who might not usually access support. The grant will provide 100 additional therapy places and enable more individuals to address and overcome both current and future challenges.
Therapy is hard, reliving events is hard, but talking does help and it has helped me to balance things in my head. I realise now that squaddies are different, and I want to let other veterans know that there is help out there and it is fine to ask for support.
