Last month, the nation came together to celebrate Armed Forces Week and to honour those who serve and have served. As part of the charity celebrations, Walking With The Wounded hosted a charity Golf Day at Royal Norwich Golf Club in Norfolk, bringing together corporate partners, supporters and businesses to raise vital funds and awareness for veterans and their families.
Despite the exceptionally warm weather, the event was a great success. Teams took to the course to compete in a series of on-course challenges including Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive whilst enjoying a day of friendly competition.
The event was supported by REMC, Kindred FM, What caused this, FDM, Morgan Sindall Construction, Lumisol, Reliable Networks, CODER, Saffron Vantage, Fortis Financial, American Golf and BDMA.
Together, participants helped to raise £9,000 which will go towards WWTW’s three core programmes- Mental Health, Wraparound Care Coordination and Employment support. These programmes help veterans and their families overcome challenges they face after leaving the Armed Forces.
Tom Grimshaw, Partnerships Manager at Walking With The Wounded, said: "A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our charity Golf Day. Even with the heatwave, there was a brilliant atmosphere, plenty of friendly competition and, most importantly, we raised more than £9,000 to support veterans who need support. We couldn't have asked for a better event, and we're so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. Every pound raised will help us continue supporting those who served as they rebuild their lives."
