Leading legal firm and Walking With The Wounded partner, Hugh James, is providing legal assistance to serving personnel and veterans who suffered hearing loss during their time in the Armed Forces.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has recently agreed to waive legal defences that have previously prevented armed forces veterans and personnel from filing compensation claims.
The MoD has acknowledged its duty of care to those who have served or are currently serving and has dropped arguments such as 'limitation', which previously claimed that cases were brought too late, and defences based on the noise levels experienced during service.
To pursue a compensation claim through Hugh James, clients must demonstrate that they experienced hearing loss during their time in the Armed Forces. Those interested in filing a claim with Hugh James must do so by January 20th, 2026. It is important to note that individuals who believe they have a valid claim should sign up with Hugh James as soon as possible. Additionally, the MoD has indicated that it may not offer the same terms to claimants represented by other legal firms.
This marks the first time the MoD has reached such an agreement, benefiting thousands of veterans across the UK. This means that all current and former armed forces personnel represented by Hugh James and who have experienced hearing loss due to their service can file a claim, provided that their service occurred after the passing of the Crown Proceedings Act 1987.
