Four teenage friends from Wiltshire have completed the international Devizes to Westminster canoe race in aid of Walking With The Wounded.

Max, Luke, Henry and Felix trained for six months in preparation for the 200km, four-day race. The race started in Devizes, Wiltshire, covered 200km, and included 77 portages, where the team had to carry their canoes over land between stretches of water.

Speaking about the race, Henry said: “My friends and I wanted to take on a new challenge, so we entered the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe race and decided to raise money for Armed Forces charity Walking With The Wounded. The charity supports veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country and now need help to rebuild their lives.

The race was tough and we had to really push through and work together to reach the finish line, every moment was worth it because we’ve raised almost £5,000 in aid of veterans and their families, which is fantastic. Thank you to everyone who supported and donated to our race.”

Martin Lynn, WWTW Events Manager, added: “Huge congratulations to Henry, Felix, Luke and Max for completing the Devizes to Westminster canoe race. It’s a monumental effort and the team did so well. They raised a significant amount, and the money will help us continue delivering life-changing support services to veterans across the UK.”
